Photographer Mary Courtney Wins Award
Lockapalooza Image Wins 2nd Place
Palmyra, NY: Photographer Mary Courtney earned a 2nd place finish in the color category of the Life in the Finger Lakes magazine 16th annual photo contest with an image titled Lockapalooza Splash. The photo is published in the November December issue of the magazine.
Courtney took the photograph in August 2017 during an outing with the Rochester Area Nature Photographers Meetup group. The group was photographing the Lockapalooza whitewater kayaking event at Lock 32 whitewater park in Pittsford, NY. Courtney says "This is the first time I have photographed a whitewater event, and when I reviewed my images, I loved the freeze frame of the water splashing off the paddle."
